1. In a separate piece of paper make a list of new vocabulary with its meaning.
* Conceal: to prevent something from being seen or known about; to hide something. He made no attempt to conceal his satisfaction
* Mourn: to feel or express great sadness, especially because of someone's death. They mourned the passing of traditional folk dancing (= felt sad because it hadstopped existing
* Hesitate: to pause before you do or say something, often because you are uncertain or nervous about it. Example: She hesitated slightly before answering the inspector's question
* Fruitful: producing good results. Example: It was a most fruitful discussion, with both sides agreeing to adopt a common policy
* Thriving: to grow, develop or be successful. Example: athriving economy
* Settled: if you feel settled in a job, school, etc., you have become familiar with it and are comfortable and happy there. Example: Now that the children are settled at school, we don't really want to move again.
* Beset: troubled (by); full (of). Example: With the amount of traffic nowadays, even a trip across town is beset by/with dangers.
* Beat: to defeat or dobetter than. Example: She has beaten her own record of three minutes ten seconds
* Wisest: having or showing the ability to make good judgments, based on a deep understanding and experience of life. Example: The old pig was wisest than the other ones.
Deserve: to have earned or to be given something because of the way you have behaved or the qualities you have. Example: Chris deservesour special thanks for all his efforts
Fate: what happens to a particular person or thing, especially something final or negative, such as death or defeat. Example: We want to decide our own fate.
Comrade: a friend, especially one who you have been involved in difficult or dangerous, usually military, activities with. Example: Many of his comrades were killed in the battle.
Rid: to not nowhave an unwanted or unpleasant task, object or person. Example: I didn't enjoy marking those papers and I was glad to be rid of them.
Vices:  moral fault or weakness in someone's character. Example: My one real vice is chocolate.
Revolt: If a large number of people revolt, they refuse to be controlled or ruled, and take often violent action against authority. Example: The peoplerevolted against foreign rule and established their own government.
Gleaned: to collect information in small amounts and often with difficulty. Example: From what I was able to glean, the news isn't good.
Harvest: the time of year when crops are cut and collected from the fields, or the activity of cutting and collecting them, or the crops which are cut and collected. Example: The grain/potato/grape harvestSpread: to (cause to) cover, reach or have an effect on a wider or increasing area. Example: The fire spread very rapidly because of the strong wind.
Surroundings: to be everywhere around something. Example: A lot of the children at the school do not live in the town, but come in from the surrounding countryside.
Rebellious: If a group of people are rebellious, they oppose the ideas of thepeople in authority and plan to change the system, often using force. Example: Rebellious groups of southern tribe’s people.
Dumb: permanently or temporarily unable to speak. Example: He's been deaf and dumb since birth.
Crony: a friend, or a person who works for someone in authority, especially one who is willing to give and receive dishonest help. Example: The General and his cronies are nowawaiting trial for drug-smuggling.
Tales: a story, especially one which might be invented or difficult to believe. Example: He told some fascinating tales about his life in India.
Beasts:  an animal, especially a large or wild one. Example: The room wasn't fit for man or beast.
