Question: How does carbonic acid affect egg shells when dry ice is added towater?
Variables:
Controlled:
* Amount of water
* Time egg is left in solution
* Time dry ice is left in solution
* Type of water(tap)
* Temperature of water
* Temperature of room
Manipulated:
* Amount of dry ice added to water
Responding:
* Differencein mass of egg shell (g)

Materials:
-Gloves
- Nine eggs
-Goggles
-Metric Scale
-Three pieces of dry ice that are 10 grams
-Threepieces of dry ice that are 30 grams
-Three pieces of dry ice that are 50 grams
-Nine 1 liter beakers
-4500 ml of tap water (500 for each beaker)-Clock/timer
-Paper towels

Procedure:
*Wear goggles and thick gloves to protect yourself from the dry ice*
1. Drain nine eggs of allfilling, leaving just the shell.
2. Record initial masses of all nine egg shells.
3. Fill each beaker up with 500 ml of tap water.
4. Add 10grams of dry ice to 3 of the beakers, 30 grams of dry ice to 3 of the beakers, and 50 grams of dry ice to 3 of the beakers.
5. Allow the dryice to react with the water for 10 minutes.
6. Add 1 egg to each of the nine beakers. Keep them in the mixture for 2 days
7. Take eggs out ofbeakers (with gloves) and lay on paper towels until completely dry.
8. Measure the new masses of each egg and record/note differences in mass.
