The Hunger Games

"Mess with us and we'll do something worse than kill you. We'll kill your children." That’s the message the capitol wants to convey through the Hunger Games. That they havethe power to control the people of Panem, anyone who opposes them will be severely punished. The tributes from each of the twelve districts are selected through a lottery, some have an unfairdisadvantage, but if one chooses to volunteer to enter the game one is allowed. A boy and a girl, between the ages of twelve and eighteen, from each district is chosen through this process and both are sentinto an arena to battle for their lives; while everyone back in the capitol and in the districts watches. Twenty four kids go in, only one comes out alive and he or she will live an extravagant life,filled with fame and fortune. But is it worth it? Against all odds and because of her motivations, her hatred for all things related to the Capitol, and the skills she acquired in her life back home,Katniss Everdeen was able to win the 74th annual Hunger Games.
Katniss was a young sixteen year old girl from District Twelve, in the history of the Games only one person from her district hadwon. Her little sister was who was chosen to participate, but Katniss volunteered to take her place, alongside, Peeta Mellark, the other tribute from Twelve. Throughout the story we are encounteredwith Katniss’ motivations. A very obvious thing that kept her going forward and fighting for her life was back home, her mother and especially her little sister Primrose. Also, we have Gale, her bestfriend who she had met back when she was learning to hunt illegally in the grounds that bordered the district. Another person would be Rue, the young girl who allied with Katniss during the HungerGames; once she was killed it gave her strength to not only fight for herself, but also for her.
Back home, in District Tweleve, Katinss had acquired valuable skills that would help her survive...
