The role and dangers of the media
Summary
Media is an important tool to society because it communicates every person on a population. However, it has a danger between its entertainment sourcesbecause they may be too violent for children or there may be an increase on antisocial behavior because of web pages such as Twitter and Facebook.
1.0: Introduction
The media is very important onsociety because it represents a mass communicative source between all the members of a community. However, media has used its power over society to manipulate their moral values and ethics, which representsa danger over most importantly, the newer generations.
1.1: Background
Media has always been a very important tool in society to send each member of it a piece of information, being by TV,newspaper, and even the Internet. This mass communicative source is used by everyone in the world each and every day of their lives. Recently, the role of the media has changed to provide entertainment topeople, aside from only information.
1.2: Problem
The change in the role of media is representing a danger, because every time more TV programs, web pages or newspaper articles sent to children aremade with violent, sexual-related, etc. topics. This leads to children copying the actions of such cartoons.
Another problem that comes from this new role of media is that web pages that are madejust for entertainment reasons, such as Facebook, Myspace or Twitter, are affecting the social behavior in users of these social pages, leading them to only care for their status on each of these pages.1.3: Possible outcome
If this problem with violent TV programs continues, children may even grow up thinking that violent behavior is a very good way of proceeding when taking care of their ownproblems within society. This may lead them to become delinquents because they look for the easier way of solving their problems, and that is violence.
