1. INTRODUCTION
DNA is the fingerprint of life that determines the characteristics of all living organisms, found in all cells of living beings, including ofcourse, the plant will be taken from this important molecule from a banana.
The process of extracting DNA from a cell must be able to gently separate the DNA of unwanted substances found in cells, preventing the DNA is denatured (to break).
DNA consists of an alphabet of four letters, nucleotides, called A, T, C and G. The order of the alphabet determines the characteristics of livingorganisms.
Every cell in the human body contains more than 3 billion letters and the only difference between living organisms is the amount and order of the alphabet of DNA.
2. MATERIAL AND METHODS2.1. Materials:
Banana
Detergent solution
Salt
Distilled water
Filter paper
Test Tubes
Alcohol 96°
Baguette
Petri Dish
Forks
Tea spoon
2.2. Methods:2.2.1. Put a little piece of the banana on a Petri dish and squeeze it very well using a fork.
2.2.2. Add two tea spoons of detergent solution and mix it well.
2.2.3. Add one tea spoon ofsalt and three tea spoons of distilled water. Mix all the reactants until get a homogenous mixture.
2.2.4. Put the filter paper in the top of the test tube, and fold the edge of thefilter paper around the test tube so that the filter does not touch the bottom of the tube.
2.2.5. Filter the mixture by pouring it into the filter and let the solution drain until they are about2cm of volume of the filtered substance. The filtered solution (liquid) is the cellular DNA that is not stored in the filter (filtering), and must specify that in step 2, the detergent breaks the cellmembrane by dissolving the lipids (fatty molecules) and proteins in the cell and breaks the bonds that maintain the structure of the cell membrane. The detergent then form complexes with these...
