What is the G-20?
The Group of 20, or G-20, is a forum of 19 countries plus the European Union, where they meet regularly, since 1999, heads of state (or government), central bankgovernors and finance ministers. It consists of seven major industrialized countries (G-7) plus Russia (G-8), plus eleven newly industrialized countries in all regions of the world,and the European Union as an economic bloc.
It is a forum for cooperation and consultation between countries on issues related to the international financial system. It studies,reviews and promotes discussion on issues related to the industrialized countries and emerging economies, with the objective of maintaining international financial stability, and dealwith issues that are beyond the scope of lower-level organizations.
