Bullying
Bullying is the general term applied to a pattern of behaviour whereby one person with a lot of internal anger, resentment and aggression and lacking interpersonal skills chooses to displace their aggression onto another person.
During the last years BULLYING has been increased and this problem has caused unhappily endings and the bullied students are not able to face it bythemselves, they need our help, so teachers, parents, students and counselors are part of the school community and we must be charge of it.
Mode of School Bullying
* Physical bullying is bullying that takes the form of physical abuse, such as pushing, shoving, hitting, fighting, spitting, and tripping. Threats of physical harm and attempts to force people to act in ways they would prefer notto are also included.
* Emotional bullying is bullying that involves factors other than physical interaction, such as insults, derogatory remarks, name calling, and teasing. Also included are attempts to ostracize the victim, such as being left out or ignored, which is sometimes referred to as social bullying, as distinguished from verbal bullying. Emotional bullying could also take the formof purposely misplacing or hiding someoneos belongings. Emotional bullying can be done in person or through cyberbullying.
Medium of School Bullying
* Face-to-face bullying is bullying in which students confront each other in person.
* Cyber bullying is bullying that takes place online, through either email, chat rooms, social networking services, text messages, instant messages, websitepostings, blogs, or a combination of means. Cyberbullies may conceal their identity so that their victim experiences an anonymous attack. The content of cyberbullying can consist of all of the types of content mentioned in emotional bullying above, including posting insulting and derogatory comments about someone or sending such comments to someone; sending mean or threatening messages; gossipingabout someone online including posting sensitive or private information; impersonating someone in order to cast that person in a bad light; and excluding someone from an online page or group. Unwanted contact, also known as harassment, is another form of cyberbullying.
Specific Targets of School Bullying
* Homophobic bullying is sometimes distinguished because it has a particular targetpopulation.
* Bullying of students with disabilities is another type of bullying with a focused target population.
* Racist bullying is a third type of focused bullying that targets people of a specific race or cultural.
* Religious bullying targets people who have specific religious beliefs.
Causes of bullying
* Want to get noticed
* They like having power over there peers
*They have problems at home
* Think it's cool and funny
* Aggressive personality
* Lack of adult supervision
* Jealousy
* Revenge
* Take their feelings out on others
Some people bully to get power, they think if you push people around and make them do what you want them to do you will get noticed. They think that gets their name out there that makes them feel cool they getattention they become popular.but some bullies do it just because they like to hurt people see the victim cry and if the victim has to the nerve to n to respond the bully has no pity. Most people think if you are popular you can get away with things that they know isn't right. Some common causes of bullying is when kids don't have enough super vision they think they can get away with any thinkAnother causes is that some people just have an aggressive personality, and because they have they low self-confidence
The SHORT TERM consequences of bullying are:
* Low self-confidence
* Depression
* Suicidal thoughts and suicide attempts
* Abnormal fears and worries
* Sleep disorders
* Nervous habits
* Frequent crying
* Bed-wetting
