When we think about a revolution, ideas immediately come to mind that include destruction, death, barbarism and negative synonyms. However, revolutions are not always for the worse; revolutions mean a start of change and a need for change. Revolutions can be caused by different things, such as fights and ridiculous laws, and they can have impacts on the place where they are fought; a caseincludes the American Revolution which had many causes, an impact on the thirteen colonies, and on Georgia colony.

The American Revolution was a result of many quarrels, skirmishes and other conflicts that built up and occasionally ended with many casualties. One example of such is the French and Indian War which lasted 9 years and began in 1754. This war was fought between the British troopsand the French, which were allied with the Native Americans, for the fear of one having more power than the other and for the greed to capture the most land in the New World. Consequently, the Treaty of Paris of 1763 was made. This treaty officially ended the war and set most of the colonies borders to the Mississippi River. The colonists were happy because they now had an augmented amount of land.As a result of the Native American’s fear at the end of the war, the Proclamation of 1763 was created by the king. This was a letter that moved Georgia’s southern border to the St. Mary’s River and forbade colonists to settle west of the Appalachian Mountains. The settlers ignored it and moved west anyways. Due to the war, Great Britain had a huge debt. The king established acts that implied taxeson products, such as tea and sugar, and prevented trade with any country other than England. The colonists were not happy about this and filled with loath, they decided to take rebel actions against the king and the Loyalists, or King’s Friends. The Revolution had many causes, and they impacted the colonies.

The thirteen colonies were greatly impacted by the American Revolution. TheFrench and Indian War left Great Britain with a great debt, and as a result many acts that taxed products were created. The Tea Act of 1773 is an example. This act allowed the company to ship tea directly to the colonies and sell the tea for less than colonial merchants could. The colonists thought this was a trick and they got angered and boycotted the tea. For this reason, Patriots dressed up asMohawk Indians and dumped over 300 chests of tea in to the sea, this became known as the Boston Tea Party. However, not all acts were related to the taxation of goods, some were also laws. As a result of the Patriot’s acts, which included the Boston Tea Party and the Boston Massacre where 5 innocent men were killed after throwing snowballs at British troops as a result of the Townshend Acts of 1767,Great Britain passed the Intolerable Acts in 1774. This act was made up of four laws that included the closing of the Boston port until the colonists paid for all the tea that they had dumped, they could not have town meetings without the approval of the governor, the court system was changed so that if any soldier committed a crime he would be tried in Great Britain rather than in a colonialcourt. The fourth rule of the Intolerable Acts was the Quartering Act. The Quartering act said that colonists were to house and feed British soldiers at their own cost. Many acts were passed as a result of the war, and the colonist revolted against such unfair laws, but they weren’t the only way the colonies were impacted. Since some battles in the American Revolution had taken place, the SecondContinental Congress took place in 1775. Members of each colony met and sent the king a petition, which he refused, and they called for the creation of a Continental Army. Hence the creation of the army and the meeting of the colonies in the Second Continental Congress, the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776. Among those to sign it were the three Georgians Button Gwinnet, Lyman Hall, and...
