This practice was interesting and very easy, I liked because the major difficulty was maybe, search for the colors on the reactions. I have already done this practice when I was in juniorhigh school, so this is another reason why it was easy.
When the teacher came to the classroom to explain us what the practice was going ti be about, we already knew it had something to do with thetopic of acids and bases, she just gave us general instructions, and it was not hard to understand those.
When we get into the lab there were like a plate with some holes, there was for put theliquids we were going to prove if were acids or bases, some of them were interesting we had milk and sprite, on the first part of the practice we were supposed to put the substances in the holes, and thenwith an special paper pass it into the liquids, and the corresponding color was going to decide whether it was an acid or a base, some colors were hard to identify in the table because the pH color,was almost the same when the numbers were close, but finally all of the substances were supposedly arranged correctly, The next part was to prove if the substances were acids or bases but now withanother method, for this we noticed that the prelab we did was going to be very important, because on that homework we had the table of colors corresponding to the Ph with the methods of the red cabbage,this information was not given for us on the lab, like the other table, but it was easier to identify what kind of substance was an acid or a base, depending of the color it turned when adding the redcabbage extract to the substance, if it turned red it was an acid, it turned purpurish it was neutral, and basic appeared greenish yellow, it was less work and it gave the same results, proving thatany method worked.
