But what are the characteristics of the information flow at this time, and what consequences have for the development of the nations? Information acquires a radical importance because it provides a sufficient basis for the adoption of policies and strategies designed at developing states. The access of information is one of the vital rights of the man, however this information could be manipulated, cut or even censured for many factors; between the society thatproduce events and the society that is informed by them. These events are specific to the life of states, which could have their negative or positive influence in achieving its objectives.
In the present the impact of information is visible in the development of a collective society; most part of our culture of knowledge of the people came from acts that are communicated by the media. Acts arereferenced by everything that happened in human existence; religion, politics, economy, opinions and social interactions of all kinds. By communicating everything that happened in our nations, media is the greater contributors of the construction of a collective society.
Now, with the phenomenon of social media, people are able to interact even more with each other, share opinions, news, and events andcomplain… (etc). People are more connected and united; social media has allowed us to have a voice and to be the controllers of the information we access to. Different from the past were governments and multinationals control the movement of the news and sometimes display the info only necessary for their own interest.
At the begging social media interaction involved only personal events, likesharing pictures, thereafter people were getting together by sharing the same interests such as musical groups or sport activities. However is now when people are realizing the immense power of influence they could have as an individuals. Social media is telling us that we do not have to be a multinational or a celebrity to make a change, to have a voice, to defend our opinions, to support socialcauses; is finally getting the idea of “the people power” but in a worldwide context.
