It is very difficult to determine when and how the fossilization process begins to work into the brain of a second language learner. There is no a real rule determining when we begin to fossilize. Itvaries widely by the individual and by the environment in which the language is learned. However, some researchers believe that most of the time fossilization takes place in an inadequate learningenvironment and that is more likely to be produced in in formal instructions ( a classroom that is far from ideal) than in natural environment of acquisition ( the country where L2 is natively spoken).Whatever the case, this is an unavoidable process in any second language learner. When we are learning a new language, we produce an internal system of rules about this language (interlanguage)different from L1 and L2. During this process, we tend to incorporate into our interlanguage a set of incorrect aspects of the target language. As we advance in learning, the interlanguage will beeventually changing. This is a constant process of rules reconstruction in which learners mend their ways some aspects of language that they had incorrectly formed. Unfortunately, all ill-formed aspects oflanguage will not be fixed and they will be settled down or ‘fossilize’ in our brains. These errors will resist correction and will not be easy to disappear despite the learner’s effort.

There aredifferent ways we can fossilize different aspects of language in our new system (interlanguge):
- Frequent use of incorrect language structures: repetition of the same mistake once and another.
-Reinforcement from successful: if a learner can communicate with the others using incorrect forms of language he will take liberty to keep using them)
- Lack of corrections: if nobody corrects ourmistakes, these will take part in the interlanguage.
