All animals are equal but some are more equal than others
“All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”
In chapter X Benjamin read this quote from the wall and it was now, the only thing writtenthere. This quote is a modified version of one of the first commandments which was created after the overthrow of Mr. Jones. The original commandment was “all animals are equal” however it wasdistorted by the pigs. This act of corruption could be done as the pigs were the only animals educated, so they could use propaganda to spoil the central idea of the Revolution of all animals being equal. The quote might be considered to be a mockery towards the governments that broadcasts absolute equality. This is depicted by the quote as it says “all animals are equal” which would be theproclaiming of absolute equality, however from the second part “but SOME animals are more equal than others” it might be inferred how a certain priority and privileges are given to “some”: which are just asmall amount of citizens.
It might be said that this corruption took place due to the animal`s falling to the thing that Old Mayor warned them about: adopting human ways. Hence, through education, use ofmachinery, trading with other humans and drinking alcohol, which are the human ways, little by little the essential principle of Animalism was ruined, making Napoleon, the leader, fall into powerambition and destroy equality.
