Enjoying the weather in Santiago
Santiago is the capital and the principal city of Chile, a country located in South America. Spring and summer time in this country belong to the months of September to March, and for that reason this are the best months to go out and having a great time in family or with some friends.
In September, Chileans celebrate their national holidaysaround the 18th of this month to commemorate the independency of the country. In this period of time, the traditional party is the one call “fonda” or “ramada”, in which people dances cueca (traditional dance), drinks wine, chicha, eats a lot of meat in many different ways and plays the very traditional games of the country. So if you want to go to a fonda, we recommend you to go to O’HigginsPark, where are the most important fondas, and don’t forget dressing traditionally!
In October there is an event a little different from the fondas, because is less familiar. We refer to the Oktoberfest. This one is the biggest of the world in Munich, and the assistants drink lots of beer, tasting new trademarks of processed barley. The Oktoberfest it is not exactly realized on Santiago, but inMalloco, near the capital of Chile, so it’s not difficult to get there, you have to take a bus in Estación Central and enjoy this little trip to the countryside. In the middle of November, the food seizes Santiago. The ExpoGourmand of the citytakes place on Casapiedra and it’s the most important gastronomic event that it realized in Chile. It is organized year by year, and the assistants can taste variety in culinary culture of the different regions of Chile. The principal activities of this exposition are the cooking workshops, the conferences about the latest industry trends and the most important in the fair, the traditional recipecontest.
