Gay Marriage

Gay marriage, the topic I personally had to talk about in the presentation, I believe that the legalization of gay marriage should be a concern for all people in our society, inactual dates, incredibly, legal marriage is still unattainable for most same sex couples in our country and many others, the discrimination that gay couples are subjected to everyday is completelyunethical, and is morally wrong. As intelligent, compassionate people despite our religion, us, who care about the marginalized around us, we should recognize this as a social justice issue, no couple despitetheir sexual preference should have a barrier that keeps them apart, we should value freedom and diversity, and keep in mind that it’s about people, with equal rights despite if they want to love aperson from their same gender or not, because in fact, homosexuality is not a choice, or something that in any way corrupts the society around it. Gay and lesbian people loving each other in acommitted relationship won’t, by any means, threaten the stability of heterosexual couples. There is may legal problems that gay couples face, bus that is not all, there is an extreme quantity of individualrights and benefits which homosexual people are denied, rights that heterosexual couples receive, including social security benefits, medical benefits, tax breaks, etc. I think that a lot ofhomophobia is based on a lack of knowledge and understanding about the subject, which can lead to confusion about the issue surrounding gay marriage. In fact, there are a lot of misconceptions abouthomosexuality in general. First of all, it is important to recognize that homosexuality is not something you wake up one day and decide to life with. There is scientific agreement that a combination of bothenvironmental and biological factors influence social orientation, in fact, when you’re 4 years old, it’s been told you already have a sexual orientation defined, even if you’re not conscious about it....
