Examples / Ejemplos:
I am at the school / I’m at the office… The cat is under the table / The cat is underneath the table / The cat is beneath the table. The flowers arein the vase / There is a hair in my soup… The papers are on the desk / The papers are over the desk My sister lives across the park. Our house in close to the airport. / Our house in near to the airport. I have a beautiful house by the river / I have a beautiful house next to the river / I have a beautiful house beside the river. My house is in front of hers. Her office is behind mine.
How touse in, on y at.
We use in to specify that a noun (object, person etc) is inside / Usamos la preposición in cuando queremos indicar que un objeto está dentro de otro, o pertenece a otro.
For example: - Where is your father? He’s in the kitchen. - Who is in the room? - Brian was swimming in the ocean. - Bogota is in Colombia.
We use at to refer to a “general” location / Usamos la preposiciónat para referirnos a una posición general.
For example: - Maria is at the window talking on the phone. - Juan is at the table with his girlfriend. - Please read the paragraph at the top of the page. - The restaurant is at the end of German Avenue.
We use on when we want to say that an object or person is on the surface of another object / Usamos la preposición on para indicar que un objeto seencuentra sobre otro.
For example: - Your books are on the shelf. - Don’t put your hands on my head. - There is an orange on the table.
