In the short film “Alma” there was a plot, which consist in exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution. The exposition in this short film is when we meet Alma and we see thesetting that is in winter, in a snow-covered street, in the day and we can infer that it is somewhere in Spain because the music is from a Spanish musician. Alma seems like a young girl, very curious andhappy. She is blond and short; we could say she is curious because she wants to enter the store and she is happy because she comes skipping down the street. This characterization is indirect becauseno one speaks in this short story and you have to infer her characteristics from what you see. The rising action includes a conflict and some complications. We could say that the conflict is Almawanting to get the doll and it is human vs. herself, internal. The complications are: a) when she sees the doll and wants it, b) wants to get into the store but the door is close, c) then the door opens,she gets distracted and the doll disappears. Finally, she finds the doll and then the short film gets into a part of the plot that we call climax.

The climax of a work of literature is a moment ofgreat emotion in which the protagonist makes a decision that can change his or her destiny for good or bad. In this short film the climax is when Alma decides to touch the doll. This is a moment of alot of emotion because she didn’t know that she was going to get trapped in the doll so when she did she was very surprise. Just before this climax the doll in the tricycle was trying to get out.This foreshadows that something is going to happen to her. Then when she was reaching for the doll it created suspense by reaching it slowly. This let to Alma touching the doll, in other words theclimax.

The falling action is when the climax has pass and we see the effect of it. For this short film the falling action can be Alma breaking the doll. As we saw it turn out to be very different....
