LADY MACBETH AND MACBETH BEHAVIORS

Macbeth is a play written in 1608 by William Shakespeare, this play is, in fact, the shortest tragedy of Shakespeare. The characters that are important for thedevelopment of the story are: Duncan (king of Scotland) Malcom-Donalbain (Duncan's sons), Macbeth (a general in the reign of Duncan, originally thane of Glaims, then Thane of Cawdor), Lady Macbeth(Wife of Macbeth) and Banquo (a friend of Macbeth and also a general in the army). This text will focus in Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, these two characters, although they are strongly related, they alsohave their differences, for example the way their ambitions are reflected in each person, also how the strength, both, of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, changes within the story.

At the beginning of theplay when the witches announce that Macbeth will become thane of Cawdor he starts to assume the idea that maybe the witches are telling him the truth. After Lady Macbeth finds about the prophecy shestarts to persuade her husband to kill Duncan by convincing him to do something that he really wants, to become thane of Cawdor, letting him to commit the deed easily. “-I have no spur
To prick the sides of my intent, but only
Vaulting ambition, witch o’erleaps itself

This quote expresses that Macbeth has the ambition but lacks the strength, meanwhile Lady Macbeth is ambitious and has the strength.

On the other hand Macbeth is the weaker of bothcharacters, this is very clear when Macbeth doubts about doing the deed and afterwards Lady Macbeth persuades him again. Macbeth is being manipulated by Lady Macbeth by threatening him to do what shesays, in order to become a man, for example in scene I, vii, 51: “When you durst to do it, then you were a man.”. Macbeth feels pushed to prove the man he really is, manhood.
