Problemas ambientales en el mundo

The quality of life in Latin America is being affected by three major environmental issues: soil degradation, air, and water pollution. Countries such as Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and México are suffering from the effects of air pollution. Urban development and demographic growth are leading to the increasing problems surrounding soil degradation, air pollution, and water contamination. Theincreasing numbers of private and public transportation vehicles are contributing to contaminants such as CO, PST, PM10, HC, NO2, and SO2 poising the air. Exposure to these high levels of contaminants has resulted in cardiovascular and respiratory illness. The growing number of refineries and the metal manufacturing industry is also contributing to air pollution. There are a wide range of issuesaffecting the water supply in Latin America. Some of these issues are influenced by the size of the respective cities. One form of soil degradation is affecting Latin America is salinization. Other contributing factors to the degradation of the land include erosion, and chemical soil pollution. There are many strategies that can be developed by the local governments in order to decrease the effectson the environment.

La calidad de vida en América Latina está siendo afectada por tres principales problemas ambientales: la degradación del suelo, el aire y la contaminación del agua. Países como Brasil, Chile, Colombia,
 y Brasil están sufriendo de los efectos de la contaminación del aire. El desarrollo urbano y el crecimiento demográfico está llevando a los crecientes problemas que rodeanla degradación del suelo, contaminación del aire y la contaminación del agua. El creciente número de vehículos de transporte público y privado están contribuyendo a los contaminantes como el CO, PST, PM10, HC, NO2, SO2 y blandiendo el aire. La exposición a estos altos niveles de contaminantes se ha traducido en la enfermedad cardiovascular y respiratorio. The environmental problems seem to be key challenges of the XXIst century. In the previous years the world politics and every person in general was occupied with politics and wars. But with the development ofnew technologies, with the increasing number of plants and factories all kind of manufacturing in general, a huge shift was made towards the environmental issues. The terrestrial, freshwater and marine environments have declined in virtually all aspects. New developments in industry and manufacturing were root causes of environmental degradation over the past three decades. The rapid growth ofpopulation, urbanization and globalization are the driving force of the environmental problems.
Africa has a vast majority of poor states and regions, and poverty is a major reason and consequence of the environmental degradation.
In general a vast majority of countries in Africa depend more on their natural resource base for economic and social needs than any other region in the world. Thus,two-thirds of sub-Saharan Africa's people live in rural areas and rely on agriculture and other natural resources for income. The most compelling problem in Sub-Saharan Africa is that it has one of the world's fastest growing populations (approximately 2.2% a year). With the fast grow of the population the environmental challenge increase.
