Richard Feynman
Richard Feynman was born on May 11 of 1918 in New York City, United States. Feynman was not only one of the greatest physicists the world has witnessed, but also a multi-faceted andexceptional individual. He remains as one of the most praised scientists of our era because of his important contributions in the development of the atomic bomb, understanding of quantumelectrodynamics and mechanics, translation of Mayan hieroglyphics, service as a member of the panel which investigated the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster, among many others.
He studied at the MassachusettsInstitute of Technology where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in 1939 and later at Princeton University, where he obtained his Ph.D. in 1942. He was the Research Assistant at Princeton from 1940 to1941 and thereafter, became a professor in different institutions. Feynman was a professor of Theoretical Physics at Cornell University from 1945 to 1950, Visiting Professor and subsequently employedas a professor of Theoretical Physics at the California Institute of Technology from 1950 to 1959. Feynman is sometimes called the 'Great Explainer'; he took great care when explaining topics to hisstudents, making it a moral point not to make a topic secret, but accessible to others. He was given the Nobel Prize of Physics in 1965, with Julian Schwinger and Sin-Itiro Tomonaga. Richard Feynmanpassed away on February the 15th in 1988.
Feynman developed one his finest works while at the California Institute of Technology, including a very profound investigation in quantum electrodynamics. The problem for which Feynman won his Nobel Prize involved the likelihood of quantum states changing. He facilitated the development of a functional integral formulation of quantum mechanics, in which“every possible path from one state to the next is considered, the final path being a sum over the possibilities.” (Possel, 2006).

He also created the Feynman diagrams, a bookkeeping device that...
