Introduction

“To Infinity and Beyond”

For the last 20 years a group of artist and scientist had transform 2D drawings into their own 3D worlds. Pixar Animation Studios is a computer animation studio with creative; technical and production capabilities to create a new generation of 3D animated films and advertising. Pixar’s objective is to bring toys to life. Moreover, this marriage of art and science is a combine dream of three men: thecreative scientist, Ed Catmull, a visionary entrepreneur, Steve Jobs, and the talented artist John Lasseter. Together they had revolutionized an industry and achieve an unprecedented record in the Hollywood history.

The creative force behind Pixar Studios and the director of toy Story, John Lasseter, helped pioneered this new art form and the early love of bringing drawings to life. Pixar secretformula is that everybody love movies and the team just want to make something they themselves want to see, not making the traditional. Creating new characters, giving them a unique personality, something that people can feel the characters are alive.

Ed Catmull graduated with a PHD in a new technology ever had at that time.

The president of the New York Tech hired Ed Catmull to develop a new paint program and other tools to create art and animations usingthe computer. Lucasfilm

Moreover, the director of “Star Wars”, George Lucas, decide to move to the world of animation, therefore he hired Ed Catmull to form part of the new digital division at Lucas film to invent a digitalproduction, including a new digital editing system called Edit Droid, a digital sound system, a laser scanner and a powerful graphic computer. Furthermore, Lucas film’s team wanted to create a feature film with computers, but it was difficult to make a picture of the world, because you somehow have to get every little detail on a computer, so they started looking for an animator.

John Lasseter

JohnLasseter an ex- Disney animator was hired in the Lucas film as the Interface designer. Lucas film’s team challenged John to create a short film with characters done in the computer. John was inspired in Mickey Mouse, because he was done of geometric shapes and he invented a little geometric character called “Andre”. After his success, John...
