The lie through the glass

Recently , Global Warming issues have been present in all kinds of media ,the warnings by researches are becoming stronger and stronger . Many organizations havemade several campaigns to make people aware about the consequences of this problem by telling them to take certain measures before it is “too late”. In some cases they ask for money to solve theproblem. Global Warming is a really serious problem, but not all is as it seems.
The first thing we have to understand is the meaning of Global Warming. National Geographic Magazine defines itvery straightforward: “Glaciers are melting, sea levels are rising, cloud forests are drying, and wildlife is scrambling to keep pace.”(p.1)And the reason? Greenhouse effect.
What´s a greenhouse?A greenhouse is a house with glass roof and walls , the sun shines and warms the vegetables and the air inside, the heat is holded by the glass and cannot escape, a greenhouse keeps the warminside even during the winter . How the earth is like a greenhouse? Sunrays travel through the atmosphere , in which are a lot of gases such as water vapor and CO2 , these gases trap energy from thesun and don’t let the heat escape back into space; the gases are like the glass roof in greenhouse.
The greenhouse effect is familiar to most people, but lately some researchers have publishedarticles and other texts that deny information such as those described above. Elmar Uherek wrote: “In principal, the greenhouse effect, of course, does not result in boiling the earth as it is shown inmany illustrations but rather protects us from freezing to death” (p.1) It´s known that the greenhouse gas that affects the environment more is CO2 (carbon dioxide) , but the truth is that watervapor is the most important gas for this process because water vapor contributes to the natural greenhouse warming process by approximately 60%.
