THE SENSES
Our bodies are constantly bombarded by stimuli from the outside world. To enable us to cope with this onslaught, a complex and interactive system of receptor contained in sensory organs transmits the data it received to the brain via cranial nerves. The cranial nerves interpret the data, providing us with the information we need to interact successfully with our environment.
From theinner working of the eye to the mechanisms that prompt us to sneeze, enable us to smell or maintain our sense of equilibrium, this section explores how our senses operate. From them, we receive essential information on the world around us.

Nuestros cuerpos están constantemente bombardeados por estímulos del mundo exterior. Que nos permita hacer frente a este ataque, un sistema complejo einteractivo de receptor contenida en los órganos sensoriales transmiten los datos recibidos hasta el cerebro a través de nervios craneales. Los nervios craneales interpretar los datos que nos proporciona la información que necesitamos para interactuar con éxito con nuestro entorno.

NOSE AND NASAL CAVITY
* Nose commonly implies just the external structure, but anatomically it also includes the nasal cavity. The nose is the organ of smell and, as the opening of the respiratory tract, it serves to warm and filter air.Nariz comúnmente implica sólo la estructura externa, pero anatómicamente también incluye la cavidad nasal. La nariz es el órgano del olfato y, como la apertura de las vías respiratorias, que sirve para calentar y filtrar el aire.
* The external nose is a pyramid shaped structure in the centre of the face, with the tip of the nose forming the apex of the pyramid. The underlying nasal cavity is arelatively large space and is the very first part of the respiratory tract (air passage). the nasal cavity lies above the oral cavity (mouth) and is separate by a horizontal plate of bone called the hard palate. both cavities open into the pharynx, a muscular, tube-like passageway

* External structurethe external nose is made up of bone in its upper part and cartilage and fibrous tissues in its lower part. the upper part of the skeleton of the nose is mainly made up of a pair of plate-like bones called the nasal bone. these join, by their upper edges, with the frontal bone (forehead). joining the outer edge of each nasal bone is the frontal process of the maxilla a projection from the cheekbonebetween the nasal bone and the inner wall of the orbit (eye socket).
The bridge of the nose consists almost entirely of the two nasal bones, and adjoins the forehead between the two orbits. Because of their location and their relative fragility, the nasal bones are vulnerable to fracturing.
The lower half of the external nose is made up of plates of cartilage on each side. These join each other,and the cartilages of the other side along the midline of the nose.
