Steps for Writing a Book/Article Review
1. Executive Summary
Summarise the article/book that is reviewed, main points of the book article, your reactions andrecommendation to other reader.
2. Introduction
Introduce the subject, scope, and type of book/article
Identify the book by author, title, and sometimes publishing information.
Specify the type ofbook/article – academic, popular business etc.
Mention the book/article theme.
Sometimes you will need to include background to enable reader(s) to place the book or article into a specificcontext. For example, you might want to describe the general problem the book addresses or earlier work the author or others have done.
3. Content review
Briefly summarize the contentProvide an overview, including paraphrases and quotations, of the book or articles main thesis ( points of argument) and primary supporting points.
4. RECATIONS/CRITIQUE
Describe thebook /article: Is it interesting, worthwhile, educational, entertaining, valid etc? WHY?
Respond to the author's opinions: What do you agree with? And why? What do you disagree with? Andwhy?
Explore issues raised by the author What possibilities does the author suggest? Explain. What matters does the book/article leave out? Explain.
Relate your argument to other books orauthors: Support your argument for or against the author's opinions by bringing in other authors you agree with.
Relate the book to larger issues: How did the book or article affect you? Howhave your opinions about the topic changed?
HOW IS THE SUBJECT MATTER RELATED TO YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE MARKETPLACE –IN YOUR WORK TODAY OR PREVIOUSLY

5. Conclusion -
Close with adirect comment on the book, and tie together issues raised in the review. Provide a recommendation or advice about this article or book to other readers.
