Zambia

It is a country localizated in Africa, it is in the southern part at east of Angola. The capital is Lusaka. Its complete territory is 752,618 sq km; which are composed by 743,398 sq km of land and 9,220 sq km of water. Its land boundaries are with Angola, The republic Democratic of Congo, Malawi;Mozambique, Namibia, Tanzania and Zimbabwe. It has no coastlines; its climate its torpical modified by altitud; rainy season since october to april. It natural resourses coopern, cobalrm zinc, lead, coal, emeralds, gold, silve, uranium. Its enviroment current issues are; air pollution and acid rain in the mineal extraction and refining region; soil erotion, desertification, lack of adecuate water treatmentpresentrs human health risks. (CIA Factbook,2009)

At the begining Zambia was part of Northen Rhodesia, it was administered by the british South Africa Company frim 1891 until was taken over by the UK in 1923 ( The CIA factbook,2009). The name was changed for Zambia in 1964 when they become independent. During 1980’s 1990’s, the cooper declining prices started to afect the countries economy.The 1991 election brouth to life one-party rule, but 5 years later in 1996 a couple of more parties emerged. The election in 2001 was maked my administrative problems with three parties filling a legal petition challenging the election of rulling party. Levy MWANAWASA won the election, he launched an anticorruptiom investigation in 2002 to prove high level corruption during the anterioradministration. This intense investigation gave result to four cases of curruption, includin a case in the Uk where CHILUBa adn other four members where implicated with 41 million USD.

MWANAWASA was reelected a free and fair way; August 2008, he died and his vice presiendet Rupiah BANDA, who subsequently won a special presidential election in october 2008.

Zambia population is about 11,862,740 (CIAfactbook, 2009 est.) This country has a excessive mortality due to AIDS; this causes the lower life expentacy, higher infant mortality, higher dead rates, lower population growth rates. There are 99.5% of african living in the country and a 0.5% of foraing persons. The christian religion predominates with a 50% - 75% of the popultaion. (CIA factbook, 2009 est.) The official languages are bemba30.1%, byanja, tonga, lozi, chewa, nsenga, tumbuka, lunda, konde, lala, luvale, English 1.7% and other languages in 22.5%. Zambia Literacy population is 80.6% , 15 and over can read and write english. (CIA factbook, 2009 est.)

Zambia it’s a republic, its capital is Luzaka, its divided in 9 provinces; central, copperbelt, eastern, Luapula, Lusaka, Northen, North - Wester, Southern, Western. Theygained independece 24 of October 1964. Its constitucion amended in 1996, to establish presidential term limits; its legal sistem is based on English common law (CIA factbook, 2009). The chief of state is president Rupiah BANDA; vice president george KUNDA. Rupiah BANDA is the chief of state and head of goverment. The cabinet is elected bby the president from among the members of the NationalAssembly. The president is elected by popular vote, the legal age is 18 years old. The period is a five - year term. In the legislative branch, the Unicameral National Assembly with 158 seats; 150 members are selected by popular vote, 8 members are appointed by the president to serve five years terms. Judicial branch, Supreme court, the final court of appeal; justices are appointed by the president.The high court has limited jurisdiction to hear civil and criminal cases. (CIA factbook, 2009) It’s part of a bunch of international orgamizations, just as FAO, G-77, IFAD, UN, COMESA, WFTU, WTO, WHO, UNESCO, ILO among others. (CIA, Factbook 2009).
