THE AGE of our students is a major factor in our decision about how and what to teach; people from different age have different needs competences, cognitive skills.AGE some beliefs: children learnlanguages faster than adults do, adolescents are unmotivated and uncooperative and therefore make poor language learners, adults have so many barriers to learning because the slowing effects of ageingand because of their past experiences so that they only rarely have any success.Age Difference; young children, adolescents and adults.Young children -up to the age of ten: they respond tomeaning+they often learn indirectly rather than directly+their understanding comes not just from explanation,but also what they see and hear +they are enthusiastic and curious+they need teacher´s approval+ theylike to talk about themselves.(a Good teacher must be experienced,dynamic, activity planer,he needs to work with his students individually and in groups developing good relationship.Adolecentscharacterisrtics:they are in the search for individuals identity+they may be disruptive in class,they feel bored, they don’t mention problems they bring into class from outside class+ identify has to beforged among classmates and friends,teenagers+they have a great capacity to learn,a great potential for creativity (teacher must provoke student engagement with material which is relevant andinvolving+he must encourage students to respond to texts and situations with their own thoughts and experience+teacher must give them tools which they are able to do+teacher must provoke intellectual activity byhelping students to be aware of contrasting ideas and concept. Adults learners: they can engage with abstract tought+they have a whole range of life experiences to draw on+they tend to be moredisciplined,they have expectations about the learning process, they often have a clear understanding of why they are learning and what they want to get out of it.Adults and learning problems: they can be...
