SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE

Este tiempo verbal se utiliza para expresar hechos y acciones habituales. Para ello, se emplea el verbo en “presente”.

CONJUGATION OF VERBS IN SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE
Para conjugar verbos en tiempopresente simple, se colocan los pronombres personales y el verbo que se desea utilizar. Cuando el sujeto de la oración está en tercera persona, se le agrega una “S” o “ES”. Existen algunas excepciones como el verbo “TO BE” (ser o estar)

I AM (yo estoy o yo soy)
You are (tú eres o tú estás) (usted es o usted está)
He is (él es o él está)
She is (ella es o ella está)
It is (eso es o eso está)
Youare (ustedes son o ustedes están)
We are (nosotros somos o nosotros estamos)
They are (ellos son o ellos están)

Read = leer write = escribir
I read = yo leo I write = yo escribo
You read = tú lees You write = tú escribes
He readS = él lee He writeS = él escribe
She readS = ella lee She writeS = ella escribe
It readS = eso lee. It writeS = eso escribe
You read = ustedesleen You write = ustedes escriben
We read = nosotros leemos We write = nosotros escribimos
They read = ellos leen They write = ellos escriben

Cuando el verbo termina en “X”, “H” o “SS” se le agrega “ES” en tercera persona (he, she, it)

To watch = ver To dress = vestirse
I watch = yo veo I dress = yo me visto
You watch = tú ves You dress = tú te vistes
He watchES = él ve HedressES = él se viste
She watchES = ella ve She dresseES = ella se viste
It watchES = eso ve. It dressES = eso se viste
You watch = ustedes ven You dress = ustedes se visten
We watch = nosotros vemos We dress= nosotros nos vestimos
They watch = ellos ven They dress = ellos se visten

Se le agrega agrega “ES” también en los siguientes casos:

To go = ir To do = hacerI go = yo voy I do = yo hago
You go = tú vas You do = tú haces
He goES = él va He doES = él hace
She goES = ella va She doES = ella hace
It goES = eso va. It doES = eso hace
You go = ustedes ven You do = ustedes hacen
We go = nosotros vamos We do = nosotros hacemos
They go = ellos van They do = ellos hacen

Cuando el verbo termina en “Y”, precedida de unaconsonante, ésta cambia por “i” y se le agrega “es”.

INTERROGATIVE FORM

Para hacer preguntas en tiempo presente, se debe utilizar los auxiliares “do” y “does”. El auxiliar “does” para las terceras personas (he-she-it) y el auxiliar do para lospronombres “I”, “you”, “we” y “they”. Estos auxiliares se colocan al principio de la pregunta.

Estos auxiliares no tienen ninguna traducción, solo indican que la pregunta está en presente simple.

Cuando empleamos el verbo “to be”, éste se coloca al principio de la pregunta y el resto de la misma permanece igual.

EXAMPLES:
1.- They study English = Do they study English?
2.- He is a doctor= Is he a doctor?
3.- I play tennis = Do I play tennis ?
4.- Helen practices the oral dialogue = Does Helen practice the oral dialogue?
5.- Paul drinks some coffee in the morning = Does Paul drink some coffee in the morning?

EXERCISE Nº 2 CHANGE THESE SENTENCES INTO QUESTIONS.

1. - You read the article in class. 2. - They sing a song in English.
3. - Henry eats some spaguetti for lunch3.- Patricia writes a letter a Jhon.
4. - Angel cleans the garage 5.- Freddy plays baseball at the stadium.
6. - She is a nurse 7.- They are teachers.

COMO RESPONDER INTERROGANTES EN FORMA AFIRMATIVA Y NEGATIVA EN PRESENTE SIMPLE.

Para responder interrogantes en forma afirmativa y negativa con los auxiliares “do” y does”, se procede de la siguiente forma:

RESPUESTA AFIRMATIVA...
