Estilos de vida y consumo de un producto de marca en
jóvenes universitarias

Resumen
El presente trabajo es un estudiodescriptivo que se realizó con una muestra no probabilística
de ciento cincuenta jóvenes universitarias de tres instituciones educativas privadas en la
Ciudad de México, con el objetivo de identificar eltipo de estilo de vida al que consideran
pertenecer, a partir de su preferencia en el consumo de una bolsa de marca. Para ello, se
aplicó un cuestionario con siete reactivos relacionados con aspectostales como el tamaño
de la bolsa, la compra de bolsa de marca, el número de bolsas que se posee, el monto de
gasto a la semana, el uso del tiempo libre, el ciclo de vida y los objetos que guardan enla
bolsa. Los resultados ponen de manifiesto que la mayoría de las jóvenes compran bolsas de
marca y poseen de seis a más de once bolsas, porque eso les da status y define su identidad
ypertenencia al grupo de estilo de vida Fashion. Asimismo, prefieren las bolsas grandes y en
ellas suelen guardar más de once objetos.

AbstractThis is a descriptive study that was done on a non-probabilistic sample among one hundred
and fifty young female college students from three private universities in Mexico City, to
identify the type oflifestyle which they believe they fit in, based on their preference to
consume a brand hand bag. A questionnaire with seven items was applied to learn of such
things as the size of the bag, thepurchase of a brand bag, the number of bags they have,
their weekly expenses, how they spend their free time, the life cycle and the objects they
carry in their bags. Results show that most of theyoung females buy brand bags and they
have from six to eleven-plus bags, because that gives them ‘status’ and defines their identity
