What aspects relate to our current history?

French Revolution

When Louis XVI ascended to the throne, there was a financial crisis in France; the nation was nearing bankruptcy. The country's tax system subjected some people to an unfair burden; numerous exemptions existed for the nobility and clergy.
Nowadays here in Mexico we are suffering the economic crisis. Many people disagree with thegovernment and the tax system. The county really has money to support many expenses, but people in the power use it for their own benefit. Not everyone pays taxes and this is similar to the situation in France because some people where benefited by law. More and more people lose their job every day and the quality of living gets worse for many people.

The Enlightment
The Enlightment isbasically the revival of ancient cultural ideas; that had been buried on the past. Now that many important scientific discoveries had been made, thinkers started arising and the idea of using scientific method of (observation, hypothesis and experimentation) where used to study the behavior of human beings. Many thinkers in the past contributed to the development of theories about human behavior,and how we should govern. Many of those ideas still prevail in today’s society. Probably the most important thinkers that had a huge impact in today’s form of government were Rousseau and Hobbes. Their ideas helped build the way republics are governed in these days. This ideas were good but some thinkers view them the opposite way and they thought that a government should be in control ofeverything and that the citizens should not have any power, john Locke was such thinker. He developed absolutism and what’s considered today as a dictatorship.

Absolutism
What is absolutism? Absolutism is a political system in which one ruler or leader has complete power and authority over a country. Absolutism was visible in the government of Ancient Regime states, especially France, Russia, Spainand Prussia.
Absolutism can be reflected nowadays in several ways. A good example is dictatorship in Cuba. Cuba is a communist dictatorship, with Fidel Castro as the head of state. It does not have an independent judiciary nor does it have free elections. Venezuelan government has all the power too; Hugo Chavez which is the dictator idolizes Cuba's Fidel Castro.What is absolutism?
