PREPOSITIONS OF PLACE

TEACHER´S EXPLANATION:
The prepositions of place show where something is in relation to another object or person. They show “position” and help us to describe where something is located in a sentence.
The prepositions of place are (in, at and on).
EXAMPLES:
We use “in” before:
* Countries and cities: Mexico, Spain, etc.
* Buildings: a shop, a museum, etc.* Months: February, March, etc.
* Seasons: Winter, spring, etc.
* Years: 1992, 1810, etc.
* Times of the day: Morning, afternoon, etc.
I live in Mexico.
I am in the museum.
My graduation is going to be in June.

We use “on” before:
* A transport: a bike, a bus, a train, etc.
* A surface: the floor, a table, a shelf, a wall, etc.
* Dates: March 1st, July 27th, etc.* Dates: Monday, Tuesday,
I am on the floor.
I will see you on March 1st.
Her birthday is on Tuesday.
We use “at” before:
* Places: School, work, university, home, etc.
* Festival periods: Christmas, Halloween, etc.
Jane is waiting for you at the bus stop.
The shop is at the end of the street.

A preposition of place is used to indicate the location ofsomething, and there are many prepositions which are “in”, “on”, “at”, “under”, “above”, “under”, “behind”. And there are used in a specific phrase.

EXAMPLES:
In: she is in the tub.
On: the book is on the table.
Under: the kid is under the desk.
Behind: your boyfriend is behind of the door.

TEACHER´S EXPLANATION:

The prepositions of time are used to indicate when something happens.
They show us “dates”, “days”, etc. And we use them when we want to know an exact date, a year, a month, etc.
The prepositions of time are: in, on, at,after, ago, before, between, by, during, for, from to, since, till, until, to, up, etc. And they are used before a noun.
We use:

EXAMPLES:

You are using the preposition in to describe when something is going to be, and it comes before a day, month, season, and year.
* Gustavo enjoys reading in the afternoon.
* My wedding is going to be in two weeks.

* On

It isused before days and dates.
* The party will be on March 27th.
* Mike´s birthday is on Sunday.

* At

It is used with noon, midnight, midday, and with the time of a day.
* My brother comes from work at noon.
* My favorite TV program starts at 9 p.m.
* I am not used to eat at night.
