The most life-changing experiences at times can come from the most unexpected places, the most unexpected time and under the most unexpected circumstances. Mine was changed by the mostunexpected person. He was a young man that, by the laws written by society, seemed to need my helping hand. Turns out, it was another person that needed to be saved.
You could say I lived a prettydecent life. Effortlessly, I obtained good grades and maintained a healthy relationship with my family and friends. From the outside it would seem like a close to ideal life; however the inside wasanother story all on its own. My life had no substantial purpose other than being pretty good at the things I did. Waking up with this deep feeling of apathy towards life was taking its toll on me. Iwas so emotionally detached from things, everything became so easy to solve. One day, however, I stumbled upon a puzzle that was quite difficult to solve.
He was a mopey boy, whose negative auradrained a room. It’s remarkable that (even with his “Negative Nellie” attitude) in every memory he was a part of, his words were always crystal clear. As time passed, I became more intrigued by thischaracter, but it took time for us to create a real bond. However, when we did, we could talk for hours at a time. We talked about anything and everything our minds could conceive. He had this grace in hisspeech that made me see life in a whole new light. It took me by surprise what wisdom this reckless youth held.
Reckless… did I forget to mention that every light has some darkness in it? For everypiece I solved in this thought-provoking puzzle a little grief grew in me, for I would get to see the truth of his light, hidden behind the darkness everybody had conformed themselves to see. He didpoorly in school, he would drink in the weekends till he had lost his inhibitions, he smoked to relieve stress (he did drugs in drastic measures), he committed self-flagellation just for fun, and he...
