Our Changing Environment

People use to think that our external conditions use to define our internal conditions, if the weather is cold so they are cold, but the real thing is,organisms have the ability to regulate their internal conditions regardless of the outside changing, keeping the body in an equilibrium by mechanisms such as sweating in a hot summer or shivering in acold winter, this is called Homeostasis. As is known the body is mainly water that’s why this internal balance will be measured by the PH scale (0-14), in which 7 is neutral, taking into accountthat the result (dependent variable) could be affected by independent variables such as eating or making exercise. This is also measured in substances like water, liver/milk and buffer (non-livingthing) in which is expected that the buffer is the more acid.

Discussion
Testing the PH in those 3 substances (water, liver/milk and buffer),having drops of HCl and NaOH as a independentvariable and PH scale results as an dependent variable. Water with HCl oscilates it’s PH between 4 & 5, and with NaOH between 9 and 11 mostly. During the experiment the biological materials didn’trespond well to the PH changes, because this bodies don’t have a wide tolerance for large PH differences so biological materials have a limited range for what PH can be. In the data, it’s notablethat for biological materials with HCl there’s a 7 pattern and with NaOH a pattern between 9 and 11. Also it’s evident that the non-living system (buffer) didn’t have any alteration, during thetesting it kept a PH of 9. The response of the buffer was close to the resoponse of the liver/Milk but the buffer didn’t change and the Liver/milk have a PH oscilating between 8 and 11. Taking intoaccount the reaction of buffer could deduce that the buffer kept it’s internal balance,so buffer would aid in the maintenance of homeostasis within living cell in a changing environment....
