He is my hero
Emiliano Zapata Salazar (August 8, 1879 – April 10, 1919) was a leading figure in the Mexican Revolution, which broke out in 1910, and which was initially directed against thepresident Porfirio Díaz. He formed and commanded an important revolutionary force, the Liberation Army of the South, during the Mexican Revolution. Followers of Zapata were known as Zapatistas.
Zapata waselected leader of the Defense Committee of the village in 1909. Zapata established a rural bank loans (the first farm credit in Mexico), founded schools and distributed the land to the people. Zapatashowed that rural culture could escape his destiny and achieve a functional and human organization based on a local economy, and verified that the Mexicans could govern themselves democratically. TheZapatistas, a guerrilla organized by farmers in southern Zapata fought against federal troops and demanded "Tierra y Libertad" for farmers.
Unfortunately, his vision of the peasants leave the landenjoy working themselves never became a reality and its heroic story ended in tragedy. Zapata's insistence on meeting the demand for land and freedom for the peasants led to his assassination at thehands of Colonel Jesus Guajardo, made ​​him believe he would join his cause, and invited him to meet at the ranch Chinameca.
