Some of the dishes are traditionalScottish Scotch broth or "Scotch broth" made from barley, meat and vegetables, the porridge or gruel, or meat pies, particularly the Scotch foot, stuffed lamb. Some of these dishes, like porridge or oatcakes(oatcakes) may have originated in the nomadic nature of Scottish origin, provided they carried a bag of oats for food. Also the haggis, considered the "Scottish national dish," originally could arisewhen transporting meat in a pork belly or lamb. The haggis is a sausage-like, but with lamb or venison, and is traditionally eaten during "Burns Supper", on January 25.

The mostinternationally recognized beverage is whiskey from Scotland, to the point that in the U.S. is called simply Scotch, and in England the term "whiskey" means Scottish origin, except where indicated...
