Memoria procesal deficiente y alteraciones
de la comunicación en la patogenia del autismo infantil

RESUMEN
Antecedentes. Para sustentar la teoría de que el déficit en la memoria procesal participa en la patogenia del
autismo infantil, se buscó demostrar la correlación entre
déficit en la comprensión del lenguaje (gestual y verbal) y
grado de sintomatología autista, con la ausencia de correlación entre dichos síntomas y escasez de vocabulario.
Material y métodos. Catorceniños autistas y siete con
disfasia receptiva (grupo control), de seis a 12 años, resolvieron pruebas de comprensión del lenguaje y de identificación de objetos por nombre (léxico). Sus madres los
evaluaron con una escala de conducta autista (Behavioral
Summarized Evaluation [BSE]). Se realizó análisis con U
de Mann-Whitney, Ro de Spearman y χ2, con p < 0.02 a
dos colas, significativa.Resultados. Como esperábamos, la correlación negativa BSE/gestual fue significativa al incluir al grupo control.
La correlación BSE/léxico, más allá de lo esperado, fue
significativamente positiva dentro del grupo autista.
Conclusiones. La correlación entre déficit en la comprensión gestual y sintomatología autista, sustenta la teoría de la memoria procesal deficiente. Además, la inesperadacorrelación BSE/léxico sugiere que la memoria
declarativa podría participar en la obsesiva vigilancia de la
invarianza, acentuando así los síntomas.

Faulty procedural memory and alterations of communication in the pathogenesis of infantile autism.
ABSTRACT
Background. To defend the theory that the deficit in procedural memory participates in the pathogenesis of infantile autism, it was looked for todemonstrate the correlation among
deficit in the understanding of language (gestural and verbal)
and degree of autistic symptomatology, with the correlation
absence between this symptoms and vocabulary shortage.
Material and methods: 14 autistic children and 7 with receptive dysphasia (control group) of 6 to 12 years, they solved tests of understanding of language and identification ofobjects for noun (lexicon). Their mothers evaluated them with
a scale of autistic behavior (Behavioral Summarized Evaluation [BSE]). The statistical analysis was carried out with MannWhitney’s U, Spearman’s rho and Chi-square, with p < 0.02 to
two lines, significative.
Results. As we waited, the negative correlation BSE/Gestural was significant when including to the group control. The
correlationBSE/lexicon, unexpectedly, it was significantly positive inside the autistic group.
Conclusions. The correlation among deficit in the gestural understanding and autistic symptomatology defends the
theory of the faulty procedural memory. Also, the unexpected
correlation BSE/Lexicon, suggests that the declarative memory could participate in the obsessive surveillance of the
sameness, accentuatingin this way the symptoms.
