Truth in Othello
The mysterious concept of truth in Othello has perplex Shakespeare play. As Montaigne said in, On giving the lie (Essays,1580-88)“The truth of these days is not that which really is, but what every man persuades another man to believe.” That is one of the biggest examples about truth in this play. Like Iago, he has beinglying in the whole play but showing a realistic identity of every character, when he said in his famous line: “I am not what I am.” That remains us that many people are two faces or that we do not havea defined identity. Shakespeare shows how generations have grow according to lies. In looking at Iago’s at the seeds of doubt Iago sow in every character we will consider the way the charactersrespond to the truth, and find the order to explain why things turn out the way they do.
The theory of truth in Othello, remain us the role we play in our lives, having a little Iago inside our soul. Many times we tell the truth to people, but they want to continue being blind or the truth that we tell them is not the truth we see. For example when Iago says: “ The Moor already changes with my poison./Dangerous conceits we want to hear, are in their natures poisons.”(Othello Act 3,Scene 3 Line 181) Here we see that every time Iago tells a tale every become dangerous, because the characters look by Iago’s ideas and not by their own so they show to us that the truth of themselves isdefined by what Iago said, showing their real identity because depending in the side we stand up we judge people.
As we now truth is a state of mind, free of error, because what we really...
