“Working with young children”

In the first class learn about the characteristics of the children to know how to work with them because in this course we practice in English withkindergarten children.

• Who´s this book for?

This book is designed for teachers who are teaching English as a foreign language to children between the ages of 3 and 9.

In this case wewill be teaching children between the ages of 3 and 6.

• What will find in this book?

The book provides background information on child development, practical information on organizing theclassroom, advice on basic teaching procedures and detailed descriptions of activities that the teachers can use for teaching.

The activities aim to teach young children to communicate orally.• What about reading and writing?

You can´t hope that the children communicate in the second language (English) because they can´t communicate in their first language (Spanish).

For this reasonit´s more difficult that children read and write in this age. Learning to read and write language become an arduous an unpleasant task because the children aren´t skilled or mature enough.

All theactivities included in this book are a useful basis for teaching young children to read and write in English later.

• What is the difference between teaching and educating?

Teaching a childcould be defined as instructing him in a certain area and educating a child is enabling him to develop mentally, morally, physically and socially and as such it encompasses teaching.

You can´tteach something to a very young child without educating him first.

Going to school is an enormous step and the first thing a child had to do is to become socialized this environment.

The child´ssocialization is the first step in the child´s school education.
