For over two thousand years, children and adults have learned and shared fables in the hopesof teaching basic morals and creating a better society. What morals do these ancient fables teach and why do they continue to be important? Fables are important because they teach valuable lessonsabout life, explained in a humorous yet interesting way, also because they teach people specifically children the difference between right and wrong.
In a fable personification is a key element.Personification means giving human traits directly to a non-living object. This element is used because it is easier for kids to relate to the object or to an idea that is being personified with images andanimal characteristic rather to a real situation. Learning is a gradual process, and this is one of the best ways to be sure kids will understand the meaning of values and morals.

Teaching moralsand values are important; values are the desirable principles in someone’s character that society considers worthwhile. Friendliness and courage are values. Morals work with the judgment of values asthey emerge in actions. Kids need to learn values so they can create their own strong moral fiber.
